Spectacular new listing in Apple Ridge, Wall Township!

IMG_2866Aaahh…Labor Day Weekend at the Jersey Shore. So many claim it to be the last weekend of summer, and recognize it with an air of melancholy. But, that’s simply not the case. Personally, I acknowledge Halloween as the end of summer at the Jersey Shore…even if that’s not the “official” end. In fact, those few weeks that follow Labor Day are potentially the best times. It gets a bit less crowded, the weather is not too hot and not too cool (still great beach weather), the kids go back to school so routines return, and there’s a freshness in the air that is invigorating. So, don’t be sad about summer coming to an end. If you live at the Jersey Shore, you still have plenty of “summer” to look forward to.

If you are down the shore this weekend, here is a sampling of some events you don’t want to miss:

  •  Allaire Bacon, Bikes & Brews: Saturday (9/2) and Sunday (9/3) from 11am -5pm. Allaire Village in Wall Township hosts it’s 2nd annual Bacon, Bikes & Brews event! Features include Beer Tent with high top tables (Only 21 yrs old and older in the beer tent), Award winning food trucks featuring Bacon menu items, Children Activities, Tours of the Historic Buildings, Craft Vendors
  • Spring Lake Art WalkThe Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts their Labor Day Celebration and Art Walk down Third Avenue on Saturday, 9/2.
  • Monmouth Park BBQ & Craft Beer FestivalCelebrate everything barbecue at Monmouth Park Racetrack on Saturday (9/2) through Monday (9/4). Enjoy ribs, pulled pork, and brisket served up by some of NJ’s best barbecue joints. Then cool off in their beer garden.
  • Manasquan Labor Day CelebrationA concert by “9 South” will begin at the Main Beach at 7:30pm on Saturday, 9/2. It will be followed by a gala fireworks display. Rain Date 9/3.

But, whatever you do, don’t think of this weekend as the end of Jersey Shore fun for the year. There’s plenty to do and much to look forward to in the weeks to come. The following weeks bring the Feast of San Gennaro in Belmar, Red Bank’s Street Fair, the Tough Sander on the beach at Pier Village, Long Branch’s “Rock ‘N’ Soul Jam”, Asbury Park Oysterfest, and so much more. So, come to the Jersey Shore ~ where the fun never ends!

IMG_0233An interesting phenomenon that I have found is that many people who buy second homes at the Jersey Shore tend to use them all-year-round. They are not purchased just for summer retreat anymore.

The Jersey Shore’s close proximity to Metropolitan areas, like NYC and Philadelphia, give it a unique accessibility. Which means, no planning has to take place in order to decide to make the trip to the Shore. Just turn off the lights, lock the door, and hop on the ferry, the train, the Parkway, or 195 and you can be watching the waves roll upon the beach in under an hour and a half.

And, what’s really awesome is that you can do this any day of the week, any week of the month, any month of the year! Because the Jersey Shore has a distinct beauty that is not seasonal by nature. You will be swept up in its magnificence at any time of the year.

Aside from the natural beauty of the ocean, the rivers, the lakes and the parks of the Jersey Shore, there is also so much to do all year round. The fun does not stop on Labor Day. In fact, in some instances it may seem to accelerate. Hay rides and haunted houses, pumpkin picking in September and October. Who wouldn’t love to be at the beach for Thanksgiving? Christmas tree lightings on the boardwalks. Classic horse and wagon rides around Red Bank. While summer is understandably the most popular time of year at the Jersey Shore, the other seasons are equally as beautiful. Fall is my personal favorite. The weather is not too hot and not too cold and the summer “vacationers” have gone back to their primary homes leaving easier access to oceanfront parking, running on the boardwalk without dozens of others impeding your pace, dining at some of the finest restaurants without a wait.

Winter gives way to the serenity of snow falling upon the jetties and sipping hot chocolate with a fresh cold breeze coming off the ocean. If you don’t know what a polar plunge is, come to the shore in the winter and enjoy the excitement!

And, then there’s Spring. The weather is perfect and summer is so close you can taste it. Easter egg hunts are held on the beaches instead of front lawns. And, Jenkinson’s 2-for-1 tickets become available.

So, when you buy at the Jersey Shore, vacation never ends. You can go anytime you want for a memorable and breathtaking break from the stresses of everyday life.

LB BoardwalkThe peaceful serenity of living near the water is a feeling like no other. The sounds, the air, the aroma. A mood change can occur with just one roll of the tide. A walk on the beachfront or along the river bed. It’s all about the water.

One of the greatest advantages of the Jersey Shore living is that one can choose to live closer to the river or closer to the ocean and still be in close proximity to the other. You want to dock your boat in your backyard, but your kids want to surf the ocean waves. The advantage at the Jersey Shore is that you can choose a riverfront home in Rumson and your kids can bike over the bridge to the beautiful beaches of Sea Bright. Or, choose a lagoon-front home in Brick and traverse over Route 35 to the beaches of Mantoloking. Purchase  a home near the beachfront in Manasquan, and dock your boat at Watson Creek.

You don’t have to plan. You can wake in the morning and decide whether it will be a day of water skiing on the Shark River, kayaking across the bay, or sunbathing on the beaches of the Atlantic. Whatever area you call home, the water – in all forms – is close at hand.

So, purchase a home at the Jersey Shore…and let the water be your guide.

By Lou Russo (94.3 The Point) July 11, 2017 7:08 AM

We asked you to cast your vote for the cutest town at the Jersey Shore, and now your results are in.

Yesterday, we talked about a recent article that listed Cranbury in Middlesex County as the cutest town in the state, but it made us wonder which town you think is the cutest right here at the Jersey Shore.

So we did a Jersey Shore poll and the results are in. The crown belongs to Manasquan (35%), followed by Ocean Grove with 18% and Spring Lake’s 17% was good for third place.

Rounding out the top 5 were Red Bank in 4th place with 13% and Point Pleasant grabbed 10% of your votes, good for fifth. Other towns which broke 1% of the vote were Toms River (2%), Asbury Park (2%)and Avon (1%).

So, congratulations to our friends in Manasquan. You guys live in the cutest town in Monmouth & Ocean Counties!

229 2nd Ave - Beach 2It’s that time of the year again – Memorial Day Weekend means summer has started at the Jersey Shore! The beaches are open, the weather is cooperating, landlords are preparing their homes for their summer tenants, and the small business owners are ready for the influx of customers!

So, you’re preparing for a day at the beach. What do you bring? For some, just a towel is enough. But for most, a little preparation makes your day at the beach that much more enjoyable. There’s nothing worse than arriving at the beach, finding your perfect spot, and then realizing that you forgot essential items. It happens to the best of us – but here’s a list to make it a bit easier for you.

  • Umbrella: Take a break from the sunlight (and reduce risk of sunburn!) under the shade of an umbrella.
  • Blanket: Bring a big beach blanket to lay on in addition to the towels you will use to dry off.
  • Chairs: It’s always nice to have a chair to sit on, to keep yourself propped up off the sand. And if the mood strikes, you can place the chair at the foot of the ocean so the ocean waves flow up and cool your feet.
  • Beach Towels: A good supply of towels for drying off, lying on, and cleaning the sand off before you leave the beach is crucial in order to avoid tracking sand everywhere.
  • Sunscreen: Choose an SPF that’s right for your skin type.
  • Flip Flops: Anyone who’s ever attempted to make a barefoot trek from the boardwalk to their destination spot on the beach when the sand is super hot knows the importance of a good pair of flip flops. Shoes or sneakers won’t do, as they tend to fill with sand and make the trek that much more difficult.
  • Sunglasses: A good pair of sunglasses will not only shield your eyes from the bright sun, but they’ll make you look cool too!
  • Hat: A good hat will protect your head from sunburn and give your face a little extra protection from too much sun exposure.
  • Water: When sitting in the sun, the amount of water required in order to stay hydrated rises. Be sure to bring plenty of water to drink so you can avoid the exhaustion and headaches brought on from dehydration.
  • Radio or iPod: Music always adds a little something special to your time at the beach.
  • Book or Magazine: There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting on the beach with a good novel.
  • Binoculars: For those moments when someone points into the distance and says “What’s that?” or “Are those dolphins?” ~ Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to reach for your binoculars and check out the sights?
  • Other Entertainment: Frisbees, footballs, kites, pails and shovels, boogie boards, and any other items that make for an enjoyable beach day for you!
  • First Aid Kit: You will be amazed at how handy this may prove to be.
  • Jug of water: Keep a jug of water in the trunk. You can wash off your feet and legs before you leave, keeping the sand out of the car.
  • Extra Clothes: A dry change of clothes may prove invaluable not only to protect the interior of the car, but for the comfort of the semi-wet individuals that will be hopping in.

So the next time you go to the beach, make a checklist – then go enjoy the sand between your toes!
