Kelly's Tavern Neptune NJ

Today I am going to tell you about an iconic Jersey Shore Irish bar and restaurant: Kelly’s Tavern on Route 35 in Neptune. This place is the home of the coldest beer and best hamburgers on the Jersey Shore – no contest! This place has been here for generations serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snacks.

Kelly’s opens each morning at 7 am, offering a full menu of meals. Literally, a full menu: everything including wings, burgers, sandwiches, and steaks is available. But if you are looking for breakfast, you can’t go wrong with their “steak and eggs with a Bloody Mary-.” It’s a classic way to start the day, if you have a hearty appetite: this sirloin steak is served with eggs, home fries, and toast. If you would like something a little lighter in the morning, go with the “Breakfast Special:” eggs, home fries, toast, and your choice of breakfast meats. For $4.99 it is the best bargain down the shore! They also offer omelets, pancakes, and breakfast sandwiches – not to mention “Happy Hour” drink prices all morning!

At about 11:00 am they start to switch gears and serve their lunch specials. Salads, sandwiches, steaks, and a $6.00 blue plate special can all be found on their midday menu. The blue plate is usually a delicious open face sandwich with mashed potatoes and string beans.

When dinner time starts, the specials switch up one more time – they offer a wide selection including prime rib dinners, fresh fish and seafood, pasta, and assorted chicken specials. In the summer they have lobster dishes that can’t be beat! All dinners are served with a choice of soup or salad – Kelly’s soup is homemade and delicious. My personal favorite is the Irish Potato soup, a traditional Irish specialty. Despite being an Irish tavern, Kelly’s also has a full sushi bar with a complete menu on a daily basis! At the sushi bar they also have shrimp, clams, oysters and crabs – all served ice cold, fresh, and awesome. When the night arrives the party starts! Kelly’s has a full service bar, the kitchen open late, and the rock music is pumping. The bartenders are top notch and the service is superb. In the summer, their outside area is open all day. There is a full bar, a lobster shack, and a barbecue pit that you can smell from miles away. If you love barbecue, this is a great summer spot!

The biggest day of the year at Kelly’s is coming this Sunday – the Belmar St. Patty’s Day Parade! If you have never been to Belmar on parade day, you are really missing something. This is a great day – about 20,000 people line the streets of Belmar to watch and cheer the groups as they pass. If you go to Belmar for the parade, odds are you will go to Kelly’s either before or afterwards- they go all out! As an Irish tavern, naturally Kelly’s serves the best corned beef and cabbage – and on parade day, the bag pipers are playing and the Guinness and Jameson’s flow freely!

Kelly’s has something for everyone – whether you are looking for breakfast, a quick burger, or a great sit-down meal, go to Kelly’s! You can’t go wrong – they have been around forever for a reason.
