IMG_2866Aaahh…Labor Day Weekend at the Jersey Shore. So many claim it to be the last weekend of summer, and recognize it with an air of melancholy. But, that’s simply not the case. Personally, I acknowledge Halloween as the end of summer at the Jersey Shore…even if that’s not the “official” end. In fact, those few weeks that follow Labor Day are potentially the best times. It gets a bit less crowded, the weather is not too hot and not too cool (still great beach weather), the kids go back to school so routines return, and there’s a freshness in the air that is invigorating. So, don’t be sad about summer coming to an end. If you live at the Jersey Shore, you still have plenty of “summer” to look forward to ... Read More >

IMG_0233An interesting phenomenon that I have found is that many people who buy second homes at the Jersey Shore tend to use them all-year-round. They are not purchased just for summer retreat anymore. The Jersey Shore’s close proximity to Metropolitan areas, like NYC and Philadelphia, give it a unique accessibility. Which means, no planning has to take place in order to decide to make the trip to the Shore. Just turn off the lights, lock the door, and hop on the ferry, the train, the Parkway, or 195 and you can be watching the waves roll upon the beach in under an hour and a half. And, what’s really awesome is that you can do this any day of the week, any week of the month, any month of the year! Because the Jerse ... Read More >

LB BoardwalkThe peaceful serenity of living near the water is a feeling like no other. The sounds, the air, the aroma. A mood change can occur with just one roll of the tide. A walk on the beachfront or along the river bed. It's all about the water. One of the greatest advantages of the Jersey Shore living is that one can choose to live closer to the river or closer to the ocean and still be in close proximity to the other. You want to dock your boat in your backyard, but your kids want to surf the ocean waves. The advantage at the Jersey Shore is that you can choose a riverfront home in Rumson and your kids can bike over the bridge to the beautiful beaches of Sea Bright. Or, choose a lagoon-front home in Brick an ... Read More >

Author: The KCM Crew (Keeping Current Matters) 7/12/17 Home seen by appraiserIn today’s housing market, where supply is very low and demand is very high, home values are increasing rapidly. Many experts are projecting that home values could appreciate by another 5%+ over the next twelve months. One major challenge in such a market is the bank appraisal. If prices are surging, it is difficult for appraisers to find adequate, comparable sales (similar houses in the neighborhood that recently closed) to defend the selling price when performing the appraisal for the bank. Every month in their Home Price Perception Index (HPPI), Quicken Loans ... Read More >

IMG_0978The Sandy-destroyed boardwalk in Long Branch, originally slated to be completed just before Memorial Day Weekend, held its ribbon cutting ceremony today, 4/1/16, a month and a half ahead of schedule. This early completion makes the City's newest project ready for the NJ Marathon to be held on May 1st. "We are in the 90 percentile as far as completion goes," Long Branch Business Administrator, Howard Woolley, said. "We still have to get (Ocean Avenue) paved, finish up the concession stands and do some other detail work on that, but that has come along fabulously." After finalizing a $14.4 million contract with George Harms Construction, work on the boardwalk originated less than a year ago. The new boardwalk is much wider ... Read More >
